The county clerk’s responsibilities include authenticating the signatures of notaries and clerks hired by Orange County who sign marriage, birth, and death certificates issued by local Orange County municipalities.
It is most often done during apostille services. Although the Orange County Clerk of Court does not issue the apostille himself, they must certify the document before mailing it to New York State.

If you are mailing documents, include a check or cash order made payable to the Orange County Clerk of Courts to pay the fee. We also need a stamped, self-addressed envelope to return the completed documents.
Once the county clerk’s office authenticates the document, it can be sent to the New York State Department of State for an apostille to be apostilled.
